EFAW/Paediatric Combined First Aid Course
Course Details
Who is it for?
This course is particularly suitable for Registered Childminders, Nannies, Teachers ( Nursery, Primary and Junior), People working with or interested in working in the field of childcare, or anyone with a professional or non professional responsibility for children.
Length of Course:
In order to comply with OFSTED regulations the course is run over a 12 hour period (2 x days or 4 x evenings)
Course Content:
· Understanding the role of the fist aider
· First Aid in the Childcare environment
· Primary and Secondary assessment
· Recovery position
· CPR & Choking – Adult/Child and Baby
· Burns and Scalds
· Head & Spinal Injuries
· Foreign bodies in eyes/ears and nose
· Bites & Stings
· Eye Injuries
· Bleeding & Wounds
· Shock Management
· Breaks, Fractures & Dislocations
· Poisoning
· Diabetes
· Anaphylactic Shock
· Electrical Shock
· Asthma
· Meningitis & Sickle Cell Anaemia
Assessment:
Assessment is ongoing throughout the course.
On successful completion of this course delegates will be receive a Certificate valid for 3 x years.
This course is recognised by OFSTED, DfES Approved Carers Scheme and can be used as evidence for employees working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education

Lunch Arrangements
Although the course does not include lunch, we are 5 minute walk from Cleobury Mortimer High Street where there are many options for lunch.
We have Chip Shops, Sandwich Shops, Cafes and pub & restaurant options.
Lunch break is for 1 hour.
We will be happy to recommend somewhere on the day based on your preferences.

Getting here and parking at the venue
We have our own car park capable of holding 20 cars, should this be full, free parking is available on the larger car park to the right of the main entrance. There are also two free other car parks within a few minutes walk/
