AOFAQ Level 2; Safer Handling & Administration of Medication

Who is it for?
This course is designed for all care professionals required to understand the necessity for the correct management of all medicines within the workplace.

One day session ( 6 hour duration)

On successful completion of this course delegates will be able to:-
  • State the difference between accountability and responsibility.
  • Discuss the meaning and necessity for confidentiality within the workplace.
  • Have an awareness of the current legislation that governs the use of medicines with in the workplace.
  • Discuss the methods available for supply, storage and correct disposal of the different types of medications.
  • Discuss the need for informed consent.
  • State ways of gaining information about medicine.
  • Recognise the different presentation that medicines are produced in.Recognise the different routes available for medicines to be prescribed in.
  • Be aware of how to look for possible or common side effects from medication.
  • State the purpose and implication of documentation.
  • State how they would manage an incorrect administration of medication.
  • Have awareness of the audit process and why it is necessary.
Assessment for this course is by a short multiple choice questionnaire.
This course is in accordance with the AOFAQ and accredited for 3 years by
